The Irish Shows Association, our body representing Irish Agricultural Shows on the island of Ireland, are running a Virtual Show.
2020 is a very different year for our showing community and the Irish Shows Association has been inspired to adapt to the new normal and look to technology to keep the show on the road. The ISA has launched its first ever virtual show to take place on Saturday August 22nd. We are all adapting to new ways of working and communicating and now we can try a new way of competing. Entries are open to anyone with an internet connection anywhere in the world.
Visit their website now to view and enter classes. Entry is Free.
The ISA wants to give something back to its loyal supporters who are feeling the void with shows being cancelled, so entry is free in all classes. Prize-winners will receive specially commissioned 2020 rosettes, with prizes to sixth place in all classes.
There are more than 130 classes to suit all interests. Competition categories include horses, ponies, donkeys, cattle, sheep, poultry, eggs, dogs, pets, art, baking, photography, vegetables, flowers, crafts, knitting, lego and creative writing. Whatever your area of interest, whether you are a seasoned show person or a novice. There is a special emphasis on children’s and young people’s classes across all sections.
The virtual format has some limitations of course, but it also has some great advantages. For example, cattle from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland can compete on a level playing field without restrictions or quarantines.
How to Enter:
Check your class on the website www.irishshows.org for the instructions on what is required for entry. Entries consist of photos, videos or a combination of both. You prepare and stage your exhibit at home and photograph or video as required. You can upload from your mobile phone, tablet or computer. All entries must be submitted through the ISA website before August 4th. Entries will be numbered and judged anonymously. Results can be viewed online on August 22nd.
The ISA would like to encourage all exhibitors to get involved and wishes everyone continued good health through 2020.
